Wine & Cheese with Le Marquis de Lafayette in Historic Bethlehem, PA

This dinner and Wine & Cheese with Lafayette on October 11, 2025 was a night to remember! Lafayette, resplendent in the uniform worn by officers during the American Revolution, made a dramatic entrance with his adjutant who led us in a rousing series of huzzahs to welcome the general back to Bethlehem.

I got to sit next to Lafayette at the dinner and later joined the crowd to hear Lafayette describe his desire to be a part of our American Revolution and recount his fateful injury at Brandywine Creek. He handled the issue of his relationship with Liesl Boeckel in a gentlemanly fashion, stating, “I received most excellent care here in Bethlehem, and that is all I will say.”

Ben Goldman really brought Lafayette to life, and as you can see here, there is a quite a resemblance!
